Vapor Intrusion Testing
AAC has been providing sampling equipment, media and analytical services for Vapor Intrusion measurements for several years using EPA methods TO-15 and the TO-15 supplement for Vapor Intrusion.
We have worked closely with vapor intrusion testers and regulatory agencies such as the EPA and as a result have gained considerable knowledge of vapor intrusion methods and their field applicability.
Your Vapor Intrusion Needs
We can help you with your vapor intrusion needs from project planning to final data validation including; selecting the proper methods to use; selecting the correct sampling media for the application; calculating the amount of sample to be collected; calculating the required flow rates and sampling time; providing method reporting limits; providing the necessary sampling equipment and instructions; providing the sampling media along with all documentation (Chain of Custody, Sampling Procedures, Sampling Log sheets, etc) and additional supplies such as sampling lines or probes; providing custom spiking gases for field testing and audit purposes; providing analysis following agency or custom methods; and providing you with the final data package including QA/QC reports and when requested Electronic Data Deliverables (EDD).
Our Clients
Our vapor intrusion clients include the EPA as well as several testing companies and involve Superfund Sites, remediation and contaminated sites including drycleaners (tetrachlorethylene (PCE), Solvent use (trichloroethylene (TCE) and gasoline stations (BTEX, MTBE).
While focusing on chlorinated compounds (PCE and TCE) and Gasoline components (BTEX and MTBE), we have been involved in measuring many of the TO-15 compounds as a part of various vapor intrusion studies.
Expertise
We have expertise in many of the different sampling areas that are included under the umbrella of vapor intrusion including soil gas sampling, sub-slab and near-slab sampling, and indoor air and ambient (background) measurements.
AAC has been measuring VOCs using EPA methods TO-14, TO-15 and the PAMS protocol for over fifteen years. We can analyze your Vapor Intrusion samples using EPA Method TO-15 in either SCAN mode or for lower reporting limits in SIM mode depending on your project needs.
We can provide individually or batch certified Summa canisters and flow controllers. For ultra-low level certification we can match and certify each canister along with a specific flow controller ensuring that the entire sampling train is certified.
Please see our Analytical Capabilities document for more details of what services we offer.
Research and Development
We have a long history of Research and Development and are experts at developing new methods as well as improving existing ones to meet client’s needs. We are often asked to expand the analyte list of existing methods and are experts at testing and validating additional analytes. We are also able to modify current methods by changing solution chemistries, solution volumes, or sampling protocols to meet specific client needs. We can perform method validation tests including spiking, stability, reproducibility, and gas phase recovery studies.
